Along pocosins in the interior

Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortix), Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge, Dare County, NC,  9/25/04.  This snake was originally seen on the trail by someone else but had moved into the bushes beside it before I got this photo. This Least Skipper was moving rapidly through a pocosin (black-water swamp) in Alligator River National Wildlife Reserve in Dare County on 9/25/04.
