November 2012

A cold spell that began in late October as a result of Hurricane Sandy persisted through this month with just two or three exceptional days.  Insects took a beating, some (especially Asian Multi-colored Ladybug Beetles) showing striking changes in appearance.  On the other hand, spiders seemed basically unaffected.  All the leaves were brown and/or off the trees by Thanksgiving Day (Oct. 22), although Winston-Salem, NC, still had quite a few red and yellow leaves.
