Occoneechee Mountain Natural Area, Hillsborough, Orange County, NC
Occoneechee Mountain Natural Area is a detached part of the Eno River State Park. It includes Brown Elfin Knob, named for a local species of butterfly that appears in the spring, although the Brown Elfins are sometimes found elsewhere in this natural area. Chestnut oaks are very common on the top of the mountain.
