Dog-day Cicada nymph. You can tell from all the clay stuck to this nymph that it recently came up out of the ground. | Leafhopper (Macrosteles quadrilineatus) nymph and adult, Durham, NC, 8/15/07. These were two of hundreds of such leafhopper in what used to be a swamp before a currently long drought.
